Te Hine Ruru’s retreats are tailored to suit each guest; you choose whether to book a massage, join in a yoga or meditation session, go kayaking on the Bay or simply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet our idyllic retreat offers. The land Te Hine Ruru is set on is teeming with native wildlife; you may see or hear weka, kiwi, quail, pukeko, tui, fantails or kingfishers during your stay here.
Freedom and enrichment are the goals here at Te Hine Ruru: you can do as much or as little as you want and enjoy the space to reflect and explore to your heart’s content.

Te Hine Ruru
Te Hine Ruru welcomes guests for in-person holidays. Our beautiful retreat comfortably accommodates up to six guests at a time in luxurious style and is perfect for couples, singles, or families.
The guest accommodation offers three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. Each bedroom can be either 1 x King OR 2 x Single – please specify how you would like each room made up when booking.
The interiors are beautifully presented throughout and there are sea views from every room. The property’s layout respects guests’ privacy while also offering space to relax and join others. There are outdoor decks, stunning views and a track leading down to the beach.
The atmosphere is peaceful and calming; it is the perfect place for rest and reflection.
We do not offer catering, however, the fully equipped kitchen makes preparing your own meals a breeze, and there are many great restaurants, cafes and a supermarket nearby.
Te Hine Ruru owner Cushla Sheridan has poured her heart and soul into creating a sacred space to be nurtured and to reconnect, and she is glad to share it with others who wish to make it part of their journey. Cushla is a qualified therapist in multiple modalities, including therapeutic massage, trauma-sensitive yoga, EFT tapping and sound healing, and offers these therapies and more to all guests choosing to stay at Te Hine Ruru.

An escape is what we wanted. Natural wonders, space and views that replenish and refresh, a sacred place to start our married life. We got all that and more, with sightings of weka, pheasants, tui, quail and a private bay that was outstanding.
Cushla is amazingly kind, just as warm and welcoming as the property itself.
We received a lovely massage and healing sound session provided by Cushla in her studio just behind the guest house. This was the first place during our travels we felt totally at home and we were not ready to leave when the time came. We will absolutely be back for a longer retreat.
